Every summer, parents ask us the same question: when are competition team tryouts? Here's the truth: there isn't a separate day to circle on the calendar. The Summer Intensive is the audition.
Why the Intensive Doubles as Your Tryout
We evaluate dancers for Competition and Pre-Competition placement all summer long, right there in class. No extra appointment. No video submission. No separate tryout day. Just seven weeks of real training in front of the people making placement decisions.
The Requirement, Plain and Simple
Getting seen for the team takes more than showing up once in a while. Your dancer needs logged hours over the summer, and the requirement scales with age and which evaluation you're chasing:
- Ages 9 & up, fall team evaluation: 21 hours minimum (Rise Pass, 14 classes, $700).
- Ages 9 & up, team + solo/small-group evaluation: 40.5 hours (Reign Pass, 27 classes, $1,000).
- Ages 6-8, fall team evaluation: 10.5 hours minimum (Spark Pass, 7 classes, $350).
- Ages 6-8, team + solo/small-group evaluation: 21 hours (Rise Pass, 14 classes, $700).
The short version: 21 hours gets your dancer seen for fall team. 40.5 hours gets them seen for the full team plus solo and small group.
Every class is 90 minutes, and passes are good for the full run of the Intensive. Just want to try it out first? Walk-In is $60 a class, no requirement attached. Want every class, every week? Xtreme All-Access is $1,300 for unlimited access.

Who It's For
The Summer Intensive runs Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, July 14 through August 27. It's built differently depending on age:
- Ages 6-8: a fixed weekly schedule, the same classes every week, two blocks a day from 4:00-5:30 PM and 5:30-7:00 PM. That's 63 hours of training over the summer.
- Ages 9-11 and 12 & Up: a build-your-own-week format. Pick classes from a full calendar instead of following one set schedule, so training flexes around family travel and summer plans.
The Styles That Get Dancers Ready
Across the seven weeks, dancers train in Acro, Hip Hop, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical, Technique, BalletTONE, and Conditioning, plus guest master classes with visiting choreographers throughout the summer.
